MEG TOYS - STOP TEDDY BEAR ABUSE:
Network shows and movies frequently think teddy bear abuse is a non-crime. Sure they don't breathe like we do....but....then don't they? Don't they listen to you, comfort you, love you back even if you gain 10 pounds??
Well, we here at M.E.G. - The Great Big Toy Box do NOT support shows or movies that abuse teddy bears in any way. There is no artistic reason for a lady dumped by her beau to throw a teddy bear in the fireplace in a soap. No reason for a burgler to cut one open looking for microfilm. These points can be shown in so many other ways. My bears and children too do not like to see such violence.
So, below is a list of shows/movies that have used violence against teddy bears for entertainment. If you know of any others please let us know. If reading this page, feel free to voice your support to the networks!! Let them know you care!!
P.S. I apoloize that this list is so incomplete, but, it's been going on for a long time....I hope in this way to try to do something about it if only to increase awareness and make people think.
SHOWS THAT HAVE SHOWN BEAR VIOLENCE/INJURY:
Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi) "There All the Honor Lies" Episode - A teddy bear is shot out of a space station's airlock into space and then rammed by a fighter! Ow, it's cold in space and there's no air or hugs!!!
Boy Meets World - Star breaks up with girlfriend and puts bear in trash compactor. Bears keeps calling out "I Love You" as it's ground to bits!!
Days of Our Lives (Soap Opera, NBC) - Threw across room at wall....ow!!!
Diagnosis Murder (HEY CBS, MY FAVE SHOW!!!! KEEP IT ON!!!) - But bad guys cut up bear to find hidden contents.
Sister Sister (Comedy) - Mother burns bear given by ex-boyfriend.
MOVIES THAT HAVE SHOWN BEAR VIOLENCE/INJURY:
Deadly Pursuits (1996, girl flees after boyfriend to beg forgiveness and double cross mobsters and leaves apartment WIDE open so who knows what would happen to the bear he gave her?? Shot by mobsters or even worse, abandoned!!
Dragnet (Both Limo and their Escort runs through a toy stand full of teddy bears!!!)
Evolver (Bad enough they killed John DeLancy, but, they used bear to test laser restraints and they ignited him!!!)
Scavenger Hunt (My fave film, but, THEY SHOT BOZZIE!!!)
COMMERICIALS THAT HAVE SHOWN BEAR VIOLENCE/INJURY:
Coca Cola - Guys hurrying to park car run over squeeze toy bear that squeeks loudly in pain....leave car parked on it. EWWWW!
Dunkin' Donuts - Fruit Coolattas Drinks - Guy gets in spider ride and sits drink on ledge. Ride starts and he pulls away from drink (we're asked to forget that you can't take food or drink into a ride area)...anyway, as ride swings by he reaches out to grab drink only to miss and grab and RIP THE HEAD OFF OF A TEDDY BEAR while a child screams, he then looks down to see fluff pouring out of the bears neck as the child holds it and merely tosses bear head of his shoulder. Nice to see he cares so much. Other passes yield equally bad results. You can bet I won't want these drinks now.
Nasonex - Ok, so it's not bear abuse. But, I take offense and toy mechanical dog abuse too....I had one, Spot as a child and my real dog liked it. In this, they talk about how to avoid allergies, you can get atrsoturf lawns and toy dogs or buy Nasonex. However, then a real dog comes out, grabs the toy walking down chomps on it repeatedly and then take it over to a trash can and drops it inside in a moment of victory. As it that weren't bad enough, then as the commercial closes, they film inside the trashcan, and there the poor puppy is, on his side still walking in air. How sad!!
Schlotzsky's Deli - Man mows over teddy with a riding mower. Yeah, he out to have bear abuse on the brain, not a sandwich. Thank goodness it wasn't a small child!!
Teddy Grahams - "The Rescue" - Hannibal Lechter boy saves drowning cookie bear from milk only to the devilishy eat the cookie. Hey, eat it fine, but, don't give it a life first!!! It then becomes a bear and subject to protection.
